I started a new job this week and the first thing I did was look at my current job description. The first thing I said was that I was in a rut because I was tired of my current position. Then I looked again and realized I was tired of my current position because I didn’t like it. Once I realized that, I felt like I had to change.
It may seem obvious, but we can’t just assume that we’re in a rut. We can’t know for sure that its simply because we’re tired of something. We might have worked really hard all summer, been extremely busy, and then we just decide to take some time off and go home to recharge. This is just a bad time to take some time off.
The truth is that most of us are in a rut because we need something, then we feel like we need something more, and then we feel that we have to do something more. It’s not bad to work hard, but a lot of us are just tired of where we are. It’s just a bad moment to take some time off.
That’s exactly why we need marketing managers. We need someone who can help us figure out what we need in order to get from where we are to where we want to be. We need a “marketing strategist” because the real world is full of situations where the only way to get from point A to point B is through people, and marketing managers figure out who the people are, how to get them to point B, and then how to work with them.
